Court's verdict on torture case in Ramechhap

The District Court has given its verdict to take action against the policeman involved in inflicting torture to Padam Maya Sunuwar, 48, of Bhuji VDC-6 in Ramechhap district.

A division bench of Justice Kailash KC, on February 1, gave decision to take action departmental against the then SI Jaya Narayan Yadav of Area Police Office Preeti and provide 20 thousand rupees to the victim as compensation.

Sunuwar had filed a case at the District Court saying that she was tortured by SI Yadav in custody at APO Preeti on February 16 last year. This is the first case of torture filed at the District Court.
